Tammy J Girard

A little bit about me! I’m a Canadian Armed Forces Veteran (17 years of service), personal trainer and owner of The Grit Pit in Trenton.
Five years ago, I suffered severe postpartum depression, facing the experience entirely on my own.  I discovered real quick that life after baby can be tough!  Both physically and emotionally. 
Before having children, I competed on the fitness stage for almost two years.  I went from being uber-fit to suffering with body dysmorphia, eating disorders and ongoing depression.
I finally got better, but I know the struggle.  Now I want to make sure other moms have a safe place to reach out to.
My focus is on helping women in general, and even more so the mom’s who feel alone. My goal is to help get them through the most challenging period of their life!  At The Pit, we (and by we I am referring to every women who walks through my door) are creating a unique fitness community: a place where women can come and reclaim their health. Whether that be physically, mentally or emotionally. 
I wanted to create a safe place where moms could connect with other moms, and especially a place where they don't feel alone.  
I encourage women from all walks of life (not just moms) to reach out to me regardless of fitness level. There’s no judgement, no spectators and no stress.
I’ll bring The Pit!  You bring the Grit!

FITNESS & YOGA INSTRUCTOR

Hailey Decarie

Hi!  My name is Hailey and I'm a full time mom of two beautiful boys.  I am a certified fitness instructor and yoga instructor.  

Much like coach Tammy, I've had my fair share of struggles!  That first year postpartum is what led me to my passion for yoga.  I needed a way to find my fitness and fuel my body the way it deserved.  I owed it to my children.

My goal as a coach is to make my clients feel strong and confident.  To make them feel empowered physically, mentally and emotionally all in a safe and judgement free environment.


Most importantly I am thrilled to be a part of The Grit Pit team!

GROUP FITNESS

If you're bored and tired of the same old workouts we've got your back.  We offer a variety of classes including HIIT, Tabata, Circuit and Kettlebell Flows.  We incorporate things such as kettlebells, battle ropes, box jumps, wall balls, slam balls, dumbbells, barbells and so much more. During classes your cardio, your endurance and your strength will be challenged.  Be prepared to work hard and feel incredible when you're finished!

WEIGHT LIFTING

Are you looking for something more personalized?  More accountability?  You also don't want to do this alone?  No problem!  We offer semi-private weight lifting programs customized to your needs and goals.  As a group we crush these goals and keep track of progress through our training app.

YOGA

Need something more relaxing and not as fast paced?  If you're looking to work on yourself and your flexibility all at the same time you're at the right place.  We don't stop there, you can work on your mobility and building muscles in ways you never thought.  Not convinced?  Come for a class and check it out for yourself.
